Hi my name is Sandy and I am the official mascot for the Huntington County Humane Shelter, and I am very pleased to meet you.  I have met alot of people since I came to the Shelter.  Since the day my friends here found me my life has never been the same.  First of all,  they CARE thats right they care about me and all of my other friends here at the shelter.  That is sure a different feeling from being cold, lonely, hungry and scared.  I REALLY like that, and second boy do we keep each other busy.

When I first came here we all just kind of hung out and got to know each other, Dee, Mary, Prudi, Jeanie, Sherry and I.  Once we got to know each other they decided that I should go to school (imagine that a pup like me in school) kind of neat isn't it.  Well anyway to school I went and boy did I find new friends!!  The people with the Huntington County Humane Society and very interested in me and my schooling they are always asking Dee how I am doing.  I did my very best in puppy school and graduated on to the next level.  Now I am starting some of my therapy training.  Thats right folks I am going to be a therapy dog.  Can you believe it a Therapy Dog!  That means that I get to go around and help people like my family at the shelter has helped me.  Its going to feel really good to give back, so many people have been so loving towards me I think everyone should get to feel that way and it will be my job to do just that.

I have some very good role models.  In January of 2008 I had the pleasure of meeting
Dr. Ralph Diner and his special friend Hero.  Hero is special because he got his start at the Huntington County Humane Shelter just like me and just like me they saw his potential.  He was placed in a Border Collie rescue by Mary  (thats her special job) and from there he went to
Dr. Diner who trained him to be a therapy dog.  Hero has helped SO many people through SO many tough times, he was telling me about some of them at the Huntington County Humane Society Annual Dinner.  I know that with the proper training I will be able to do the same thing.  Sometime the best thing is just to listen.

Speaking of listening I hear Dee and she says its time I go run off some of this energy of mine, besides in order to be a good therapy dog  you have to do a lot of practicing,  Oh theres Dee again, gotta go.

May everyone find a forever home,
